Car manufacturers and dealers have been doing it for years and now car transport services are making it simpler for the average consumer. Transporting cars, whether from the manufacturer to the dealer or from one city to another saves on the physical wear and tear of the vehicle’s exterior as well as the mechanical stress on the engine.
In order to select a transport service, the first question you’ll want answered is how much will it cost? As with any type of shopping you should comparison shop prices and services from various car transport companies.
You’ll need to know the origin point and destination for the car and the approximate date you want the vehicle to depart. The car transport service will also need the make, model and year of the car in question.
The client needs to know what type of transport they are looking for whether it’s door-to-door or point-to-point (i.e. a central location in one city to another.) Some transport services also offer covered transport, which will protect the car from weather elements, rocks and dust. This can be very beneficial in the transport of vintage or classic cars
Once a company is selected, payment arrangements will need to be made. Most companies want a deposit of 15 to 20% prior to the car’s departure and full payment made when it arrives at the destination. These payments are usually required to be in the form of cash or a cashier’s check.
It’s usually a good plan to check the fine print on the contract once it’s been agreed to. If you cancel it, the transport company may charge a fee. It’s also a good idea to put a clause somewhere in there that allows for you to cancel if they have not picked up your car within some number of days of the scheduled date.
Review the contract closely because most transport services will not guarantee a pickup date or delivery date, but rather refer to the window of time in which they are scheduled.
Insurance is also an issue. Sometimes your own insurance carrier will not cover damages sustained to the vehicle while being transported on another. Verify what insurance coverage the transport service offers and if you purchase it, make sure it is listed in the contract. As with any company, you should verify the references of prior service.
Finally, once you’ve settled on a car transport service and signed the contracts, be sure that you receive an “Original Inspection Report.” The transport service will inspect the vehicle prior to accepting it for transportation. It will note nicks, dings, scratches, dents and defects inside and out.
If there are scratches on the windows, these will all be noted on the “Original Inspection Report.” Make sure you hang onto this, because when your car is delivered, you should take the time to go over it slowly. Verify that there are no problems other than what is listed on the report.
In most cases, the process of transportation is damage- free, but if your car has notable damage not listed on the report, then get the driver’s signature in concurrence with the damage and notify the transport service. With the dual verifications, the company should work out a way to reimburse you for any repairs that are necessary. =========================================================== Discover vital information and advice about car and auto transport services. “It’s Time To Start Living The Life You’ve Imagined”
This quotation, attributed to the American author, Henry James, captures perfectly the mood among property buyers in Altinkum, Turkey. James would have been intrigued by the excitement rushing through this Aegean resort – an excitement that started in 2002 with the change in laws allowing foreign nationals to own property in Turkey in their own names, and now fuelled by intense interest from the British media and the experiences of early investors.
Until a few years ago, Altinkum was purely a holiday town. An arc of golden sand running gently down into a turquoise sea, so perfectly clear that in the shallows, the fish skimming around a bather’s feet appear to be swimming in glass. A beachfront lined with small bars selling typical Turkish food and international favourites, a small central square with stalls of trinkets for souvenir hunters, and one nightclub summed up the total of Altinkum’s tourist facilities.
Now property is the main industry of Altinkum, and the once minor resort in Turkey has become an investor’s dream. Specialist magazines like A Place In The Sun and Homes Overseas have featured articles on the Altinkum gold rush, and the property boom has even caught the attention of the national press and television stations with news stories and TV programmes hailing Turkey as the next Spain and Altinkum as the new Marbella.
The Altinkum locals have responded in kind, ploughing billions of lira into regenerating the area. The main highway into the resort is now a tree-lined boulevard, with flower beds lining the pavements. Along the main beach runs a paved promenade studded with palm trees, and a marina and golf course will complete the transition from dusty town to cosmopolitan resort.
The local investment is seeing a major return. Apartments and villas are realising a year-on-year increase of as much as 30 percent, and two bedroom apartments which were available in 2000 for £6,000 are now asking upwards of £25,000. The area has seen its first sale of a single property over £200,000, and while this is still remarkably cheap to European eyes, it marks a major achievement for Altinkum, posting its entrance into the same league as Bodrum and Fethiye, which have been established property hotspots for many years.
Altinkum’s future is assured. The once-seasonal holiday town, deserted in winter by all but a few, now has a wealth of full-time expat residents. The more confident restaurateurs are staying too, providing excellent food and a place to meet throughout the winter. The biggest hotel in Altinkum held its first New Year’s Eve party this year, and next year promises a yet larger crowd to please as more and more buyers take the plunge and choose Turkey for Christmas.

With the kids in the backseat buckled up tight, you’re headed for grandma’s house, an all-day drive. The great American family vacation road trip–a time for bonding and sharing each other’s interests. A time for pulling your hair out one by one.
As long as Americans pile the kids in the car for a family vacation, they are doomed for the anxieties that come with the mind-numbing boredom of a very long road trip. After a short while into the trip, the fidgeting starts. The inevitable discussion about who hit whom first is under debate. Good feeling’s gone.
As it happens, once the kids have seen a couple grazing cows and a horse pasture, they pretty much don’t want to see it again. Rolling hills and scenic mountains served their purpose a great many miles back, but now, who really cares? And who really gives a hoot what they’re growing in those widespread fields anyway!
So here you are, only a couple hours into the trip, with the whole day ahead of you, and the whining starts. “Are we there yet?”
Never fear! Remember those awesome car trip games we used to play as kids? The age-old “I Spy” game where the other player tries to guess your object. Then, of course, the license plate game options: See if you can spell all 50 states, make a phrase out of the plate letters or see who can add up the numbers correctly.
Car trip games are really terrific entertainment for the kids, but when 20 Questions suddenly turns into 20 reasons why you’re bothering me, then it’s time to move on before the scuffling accelerates.
Unlike past generations, today there is a simple solution. Put in a DVD movie. Just slide that little disc boldly into the slot, and suddenly the family road trip takes on new scenery–Shrek, Nemo, Woody and Buzz. The whining stops. Restless little bodies settle down, and the car mercifully becomes surrounded by contentment. Suddenly, the trip becomes much easier.
Okay, so now you’re thinking enjoyment of the journey is lost. The family vacation is a bust. Relax, already! True, the countryside is becoming just a faint flicker in the background, but consider the fact that if you make the most of getting to your destination, you will bring home good memories of the entire trip. In reality, TV provides a welcome sanity for today’s long road trips. So, let modern technology take over. Enjoy it!
If you’re still having a hard time accepting defeat to the state-of-the art, consider days gone by when fidgety children were free to move around. Perhaps you can recall sitting in the back of the station wagon or hatchback playing board games or working on little paper projects. Can’t do that today. For safety, the little ones are strapped into their special seats and the older ones are buckled up tight. Not much freedom there. The great American road trip has forever changed.
So next time you hit the road, throw in those DVD movies. Your sanity may depend on it.
A word of warning I must add. As parents come to rely on DVDs as their survival against hours of back-seat whining and clashing, DVD players won’t solve all problems. There may be fewer “are we there yets,” but eventually new squabbles of “it’s my turn to pick” or “I don’t want to watch that” will erupt. Isn’t modern technology great?
If you are planning a vacation trip to Cancun, hop the ferry across the bay to the small finger-shaped Isla Mujeres. The name means “Island of Women” and there are a number of theories as to how the name came to be but it’s not because of the topless beach. The important thing is that it’s a great place to vacation in the sun.
On Isla Mujeres the atmosphere is much more relaxed and relatively quiet compared to Cancun or Cozumel. The number of tourists is much less than on the mainland.
The city is only about 10 blocks long and five blocks wide so don’t expect a whole lot besides the supermarket and cinema. But the natural sights are what you came for anyway.
There are accommodations to fit all budgets. Most are downtown and near the oceanfront. One of the better hotels is Posada del Mar with air-conditioned rooms overlooking the waterfront. The Cristalmar Resort and Beach Club is south of town has a great beach, pool and modern facilities. There are a number of budget hotels but be careful because the conditions and service vary greatly from day to day.
The outlying reefs are great for diving and snorkeling. The windward side is best but only when the seas are calm. The coral rocks are quite dangerous when the water is rough. Local dive shops provide day trips out to the farther reefs for snorkeling and diving.
Charter a local boat for a deep-sea fishing trip. Grouper, barracuda, tuna and red snapper are in abundance year round while in the spring you can catch the bigger fish like dorado, marlin and sailfish.
Every year the Club de Yates of Isla Mujeres puts on a sailing regatta near the end of April. Also, the Regatta Amigos takes place several times throughout the year. These events turn into one big party for the whole island with costumes, dancing, music, food and tequila.
At Playa Norte Beach (the previously referred to topless beach) is on the north edge of town. The water is shallow, blue and calm with cafes close by. Sailboarding and water skiing are popular as is the local three-wheeled floating “bike”. Not far away is another beautiful and quiet beach, Playa Lancheros.
On the south end of the small island is a reconstructed ancient Mayan temple. It sits on a cliff with a wonderful view over the ocean. This makes a good excuse to take a walk and see the island.
Garrafon Beach is the one spot that seems to draw the most tourists. Probably because it’s such a good spot for snorkeling. Avoid the crowds by going early. The beach has a coral reef that is perfect for beginner snorkeling and children. You can have fun actually feeding the fish. Not too far out you can get a look at some sunken cannon, an anchor and the resident angelfish.
If you go in October, don’t miss the Isla Mujeres International Music Festival. It starts on the second weekend of the month and goes for 12 days of music and dancing.

The sport of river rafting was practically invented in Colorado. In the late 1960s Bill Dvorak came up with many safety standards for equipment and many guidelines for proper rafting technique. His Dvorak Expeditions company was the first licensed river recreation outfitter in the country. In the decades since, river rafting has become a hugely popular pastime in Colorado and around the world. Colorado river rafting is some of the best in the world. Some of the most notable of Colorado’s many rivers are the Arkansas River, the Colorado River, and the Dolores River. Each one offers rafters a unique and exciting experience.
The Arkansas River starts near Leadville, Colorado and extends through the Midwest, cutting through Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas before emptying into the Mississippi River. There are many beautiful and famous sights on the Arkansas River, including Royal Gorge and Big Horn Sheep Canyon. The rapids on the Arkansas River range from class II all the way to Class V, depending on the part of the river. There are countless excursions offered on different stretches of the Arkansas River lasting from a half day to several days.
The Colorado River begins in the Rocky Mountains and is almost 1,500 miles in length. It is one of the most majestic rivers in the world, stretching through several states and even into Mexico before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. Some sights along the Colorado River worth mentioning are the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. There are countless river rafting tours on the Colorado River, ranging from beginner’s excursions to some of the most intense rapids found anywhere.
The Dolores River is another great spot for Colorado river rafting. The Dolores River is a 250-mile long tributary of the Colorado River. It runs through the states of Colorado and Utah. Ponderosa Gorge on the Dolores River offers rafters exciting Class III and IV rapids, while Slickrock Canyon has Class II and III rapids. The Dolores River is one of the most scenic parts of the country.
Colorado river rafting is an exciting adventure. What better place to go river rafting than the place where it originated?
Sitges, Cafe Tiempo Loco, September 24, 2004, 7:20 pm
Sitting here in the cafe, 2 minutes from the Hostal Bonaire (Euro 39 for a single room) where we are going to spend the night.
We left Javea yesterday around 1 pm and drove up the A7. We were just curious about the toll and ended up paying Euro 6.20 and Euro 17.75 plus another Euro 1.20 to exit just around Tarragona.
We decided to explore the mountain areas and ended up in a hostal in the small medieval town of Montblanc where a single room cost only Euro 25.00 and a double room was Euro 42.00. We walked around the town which is completely encircled by walls and medieval watchtowers. Quite interesting, but very small.
Having dinner was another thing, we were ready to eat by about 8 pm, but no chance, none of the restaurants would open before 9:00 pm so we ended up eating a bocadillo (sandwich) at a bar on the main square.
This morning we had a nice little breakfast on the main square at the same place. It was market day today and all sorts of merchants were selling various types of merchandise from portable stands. Our breakfast was lovely, tea plus 2 of the freshest croissants we had ever tasted.
We then made our way through the mountains past Valls into the area of Montserrat, which is an absolutely fascinating area. We ended up spending the entire afternoon at the Monastery of Montserrat, checked out the basilica, were astounded at the various modes of transportation one could use to get up to the monastery, ie. the road with Euro 4 for parking, a pin and racket railroad and an aerial tram.
Plus we took a funicular to the top of the mountain to Sant Joan and walked around at the top of the serrated mountains. What a gorgeous view! We also walked up to the right to a little chapel (I guess the Chapel of Sant Joan). Right beside it was an abandoned villa / restaurant that was glued against the mountain. It pretty much lay in ruins and I wondered what must have happened to this rather mysterious place…
After Montserrat we drove down to the coast and we decided to spend our last night on the mainland in Sitges, a really beautiful town about 50 km southwest of Barcelona, right on the Mediterranean. We went to the tourist office to get our accommodation information and then drove down to the beach where we had to park quite far away from the downtown. Parking is definitely an issue here.
We booked into the Hostal Bonaire right downtown, 2 single rooms at Euro 39 each, not bad for a beautiful beach town. Not fancy, but clean and with private baths. Now we are gonna head out for dinner. After about 4 to 5 hours of walking today we are pretty tired and hungry….
Tomorrow it’s off to Ibiza where we are going to have a more relaxing week.
Ever sit with a friend as she recites an exciting story of her romantic vacation in Mexico? You may have found yourself zoning out, watching the movie in your mind of lying on the beach sipping tropical drinks beside your hubby wearing his seductive Speedos.
Admiring her golden complexion you ponder, “I couldn’t possibly afford a vacation right now,” as she hands you photos of her adventurous hike through the Mayan ruins.
You could shop around for discount airfares but then there are always the expenses of hotel, car rental and dining out, right? Wrong. There’s something called Home Exchange and lots of people do it. Now before you go zoning out on me this time, I can assure you that it’s the perfect alternative to wishing you were in your friend’s photos.
For some people, home exchange isn’t just a one-time deal. Many continue to home swap year after year and it no longer becomes a question of saving money but gaining new friends in distant places and adding some extra spice to a vacation.
You offer them your home for their vacation and they in return, do the same for you. Who better knows your desired destination than the ones who live there? Not only can you exchange homes for a couple of weeks but you can also trade vehicles or offer each other some useful travel tips on hot spots and great local entertainment.
Of course this isn’t something that you jump into or decide at the last minute. There’s always a substantial amount of communication with home exchangers before saying bon voyage so any concerns are dealt with before the bags are packed.
If you happen to establish a friendship from your home exchange adventure, then you’ve gained more than just memories of a wonderful holiday. Home Exchange can also flourish into home hosting, where you entertain your guests for non-simultaneous vacations.
It’s a special way to take your dream vacation without going broke and now you’ve saved enough money to purchase other things while on vacation in Mexico…like bottled water or a new bathing suit for hubby.
There are numerous factors which need to be taken into consideration when choosing what kind of
href="http://www.yourfloors.co.uk">flooring
can breathe new life into it and can be a great way to improve your living environment. It may not
be as expensive as you think either.
A big consideration on what flooring to choose is what the role of that room is. Flooring which
makes sense for the dining room may not be appropriate for the kitchen or bathroom for example. Some
of the most popular types of flooring are carpet, vinyl, wood, and laminate.
Laminate flooring can be a great alternative to wooden flooring if you are looking to achieve a wood
effect floor for a fraction of the price. Laminate flooring is made from a sheet of MDF with a wood
-effect plastic surface attached to it. One pitfall of laminate flooring is that whilst it is
resistant to sctratches once it is damaged it is impossible to repair. That aside it can still be a
perfect choice for a kitchen, where the plastic coating provides an easy to wipe clean surface. On
the other hand a solid wood flooring would not be a good idea in a bathroom, or indeed any room
which is likely to get very wet. Some woods are more vulnerable to the wet than others.
If you are planning to install a wooden floor, its important you have a suitable surface to fit it
on. An ideal surface would be flat, and dry. There are options however to counter uneven flooring
issues, such as laying ply throughout, or employing an underlay to create a floating
floor.
More often than not laminate flooring is sold as a product you can fit together without help which
is a great way of keeping costs down. Solid wood flooring requires however a higher degree of DIY
skills, so it can sometimes be advisable to get solid wooden floors fitted professionally which on
the downside can add a considerable cost.
Something many people do not realise when they measure their room to calculate how much flooring
they will need ” is that it is important to include a 10mm gap around the edge of the room for the
wooden flooring to expand and contract.
As an integral part of any interior design strategy, it is crucial to select the correct flooring.
Whilst wooden or laminate floors can be ideal ” often for a more chic minimalist look; carpet can be
a better option if you are trying to achieve a more traditional home feel. The important thing is
you take into account the various factors you need to consider before ordering new flooring.
