2006 Soccer Travel Camps Abroad: EduKick Soccer Travel
Camps are the ultimate in study abroad, soccer travel programs.
Our soccer schools provide professional soccer training combined
with quality foreign language instruction and chaperoned
cultural excursions in order to maximize the young player’s
experience abroad. EduKick is an international soccer academy
committed to delivering the highest level of language and soccer
instruction…in secure, safe, and nurturing environments.

International Soccer Tours: Europe,
Brazil, Mexico, Canada, USA, Israel

APPLY
NOW

Cultural Immersion: The experience of living in another
culture is dramatic. EduKick believes that exposing young people
to foreign cultures will accelerate personal growth and inspire
them to reach their full potential. Players live the day-to-day
experience of the foreign culture; from the language spoken, to
foods they eat, music they listen to, and programs they watch on
TV. The EduKick youth will have each of their six senses on
alert; everything will be new and exciting, like nothing they
have ever seen before.

Language Immersion Program: EduKick players will attend 2
hours of language instruction each day. Classes are held at an
affiliated Language Academy in the host city. Language
curriculum concentrates on conversational skill-building and
situational learning. The academic language element of the
EduKick experience is not limited to the classroom…the real
language lesson will be the experience of living in a foreign
country, eating, drinking, sleeping, and playing in the chosen
country’s culture.

The afternoon soccer training sessions will also be conducted in
the native language. Although bilingual coaches are being used,
the focus of the entire trip is language immersion, therefore,
the native language will be used whenever possible.

EduKick Abroad: In the program, it is the time abroad,
being independent and away from family that brings about
individual growth. Most EduKick youth will not have traveled
abroad before, while others will have traveled but only with
their parents. And, of course, some will be seasoned travelers.
Those of us who have traveled out of our native country
understand that the experience somehow gives us a broader
outlook on life. Time spent in environments abroad enlightens
us, and inspires us to try other new things (like learning new
languages). This is especially true for teenagers. The
experience of flying alone to JFK Airport in New York City to
meet the rest of the EduKick Team will be a bit of a culture
shock in itself. Landing in a foreign country for the first time
is an amazing thing, inherently exciting, especially when your
arrival to the foreign city is as part of a TEAM…The EduKick
Team!

Professional Soccer Training: Players attend 2-3 hour
training sessions daily. EduKick is affiliated with professional
soccer clubs, schools and academies. Foreign coaches are FIFA
(Federation International Futbol Association) licensed and are
former professional players. EduKick youth are exposed to
high-level international soccer training that is designed to be
intense but fun and educational. Scrimmages are organized daily
and when possible “friendly matches” are arranged between
EduKick youth and their foreign peers. EduKick has arranged for
several professional players to make special appearances and to
speak with the EduKick youth. Again, the daily soccer training
is conducted in the native language so that the opportunity for
EduKick youth to learn through immersion is maximized.

EduKick Education: EduKick is associated with
international partners, both in language and soccer, who
understand the EduKick philosophy and who are established,
qualified professionals with extensive experience in education
and youth programs. EduKick is committed to providing the
highest level of cultural, language, and soccer education and
service possible to make this time abroad an unforgettable
experience for the participating youth. In the end, the
relationships that the EduKick youth create with their foreign
friends and their fellow EduKick team members from around the
world, will be the most rewarding and educational aspect of
their trip.

Motor scooters have come a long way over the past 80 years. They have evolved into a popular and cheap form of travel all over the world. Would a motor scooter fit your needs?

Motor scooters are vehicles with small wheels and a low-powered gasoline engine geared to the rear wheel. The first patents for “foot powered” scooters date back to 1921. Up to that time there were no motors attached to the scooter. They were propelled by “foot power.”

The old-fashioned foot-powered push scooter was updated to a Razor motor scooter under the direction of Gino Tsai, whose father was a mechanical engineer for the J. D. Corporation in Shanghai, Taiwan. His motor scooter took about 5 years to design.

Gino Tsai claims that the reason he invented the Razor motor scooter was due to the fact that his father had to walk for miles every day around the huge bicycle factory that he worked for because of his short legs. To solve this problem he updated the old-fashioned push scooter into what we now know as the modern Razor motor scooter.

When Gino finished the development of his motor scooter he began to market it to the public. It quickly became a huge success with customers waiting as long as six months for their orders.

Why was the Razor motor scooter so popular? The Razor scooter was made from lightweight airplane grade aluminum which can support over 1000 pounds without bending. It is foldable, which means it can be stored in very small places. It has small polyurethane wheels and a low-powered engine. Braking is activated by stepping down on the rear fender.

Today there are many different brands and models of motor scooters. We have electric scooters and gas powered motor scooters. They are very versatile and functional, serving many different purposes. They are patterned after motorcycles, but have smaller wheels, lower-powered engines and can be “stepped through,” unlike the motorcycle.

The most commonly seen style of scooter is the “folding,” or “foldable,” scooter. These are two-wheeled models that are typically used for traveling short distances around the neighborhood. Braking occurs when the back fender is stepped on, putting pressure on the back wheel and stopping its movement. This type of motor scooter is made for kids or adults and can also be used to perform tricks on. It is very compact in size and can be folded for storage in small places.

A unique feature of freestyle folding motor scooters is the “kicktail,” a portion of the foot deck that extends over the back wheel. This is what provides the leverage for performing tricks. Motor scooters with “kicktails” are called freestyle scooters and usually have hand brakes due to the fact that the back fender allows for the performance of tricks instead of braking.

Electric scooters are generally bigger and heavier. Because of the extra weight they consume more power and can only go shorter distances when compared with the folding scooters. After about 10 or 15 miles it may be necessary to recharge the battery.

These electric, or battery-powered, motor scooters are often used to travel short distances around the neighborhood or perhaps on a school campus or other confined environment. They are particularly popular among the elderly, handicapped and disabled. Instead of being confined at home these elderly or handicapped people can now have some of their former independence returned to them. Motor scooters of this type are usually called mobility scooters.

Gas powered motor scooters are usually more powerful and can attain higher speeds than the folding scooters or electric scooters. They can also travel longer distances when a larger fuel tank is included. Gas scooters may not be permitted in some areas so it is wise to check out the laws and regulations in your area before purchasing a motor scooter.

Being without a partner in the world where you notice relationships in any pub and disco can be a terrible feeling. I personally know of four single friends who go on dates each and every week and each day they are depressed because they are still without a partner. In the amazing city of London there are a vast collection of superb escorts, these stunning escorts are the perfect gift to give to yourself if you are without a girlfriend.

Call girls in London are fabulous and beautiful and have a high education making them fine companions as well as astonishing lovers. The working girls in London are typically more costly than anywhere else like Leeds, the reason for this is the escorts tend to be of a higher class. Make sure you try Escort Girls from Lucy Bond.

Escorts have been made beloved with the television show Secret Diary with the delightful Billie Piper. In the television show the call girl is made out to be glamorous and very rich and always looking lovely. The show is a top rated show in the United Kingdom and many lads have seen it and have now booked an escort. This has helped to fuel the increase in single males feeling much happier and better about the choice a single lad has in London.

Some tips on backpacking

Travelers around the world enjoy seeing the sights and wonders of different places with only a backpack for all the things they need. Because they only have a pack on their backs, the possibilities of new sightseeing and activity adventures are limitless.

But of course, before you head for a faraway hiking adventure with your backpack, you must make sure that you bring all the things you need to put in your backpack. Below is a checklist that would help your backpacking adventure a pleasant experience.

- Backpack

Of course, how can you go for a wild backpacking activity without a backpack! Pick one that is comfortable and fits well on you.

- Quick Drying Towel

Widely available in many stores. You don’t want a heavy, damp towel on your backpack, do you?

- Walking Shoes

Pick comfortable shoes as you would learn soon enough that walking would be a major part in your backpacking adventure.

- Underwear and socks

These go without saying.

- Long Underwear

This depends on the season and place where you are traveling. You might also wear your long underwear when you stay in hotels that do not have adequate well-heating systems.

- Pillow Case

Pillow case is an essential thing to keep when you stay in backpacker hotels.

- Sleeping Bag

When you stay in backpacker hotels.

- Passport

Don’t even think of leaving the country without it.

- Spy Wallet

So that you could be able to divide up the money that you have just in case.

- Day Pack

Most backpacks have a detachable daypack.

- Camera

A digicam may be better, but bulkier and heavier to carry.

- Journal

For the writer and chronicler in you.

- Flip Flops

Useful when you take a shower.

- Traveler’s Checks

You can never be too sure with your money.

- Wet Wipes

Always come in handy. Easy to carry too.

- Landry Detergent

It might prove handy.

- Space Savers

- Rain Coat

Especially if you travel on a rainy season or you’re going to tropical countries like those in Southeast Asia or South America.

- Lock

For the safety of your belongings.

- Band Aids

It’s better to be prepared than not at all.

- Travel Guide

Try picking a comprehensive yet easy-to-carry travel guide.

- Personal items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, and shampoo

For hygienic purposes.

- Clothing

A tip: The night before you leave, check all clothes that you need. Then take only the half. Clothing simply weighs too much. Take only what you can carry at ease.

If you have set your mind on traveling around the world, you might run into the difficult task of having to make a hard choice: where do you want to go? The multitude of destinations and travel options is great, but it is also something that you might deal with for days or even weeks before you make a decision.

The best thing to do is to create a top ten list of the places that you always wanted to visit. The list may include different countries or even cities in the same country. No matter what you will place as number one in your list you shouldn’t worry about getting there, as the travel industry is huge today and able to send you to your destination. Try to find out as much as possible about the most attractive destinations. Travel literature offers a wide variety of sources for good information. You can either go at a local bookstore or search online for facts about your destination(s).

Try to have a good idea about what you want to do there. Are you going to go white water rafting, hiking, biking, roller skating, scuba diving? Make sure you have the adequate equipment and physical condition to embark on an adventure. Remind yourself that you will, most likely, find yourself on the tourist trail. This may be enough for some, but if you wish to capture hidden aspects of the place you will be visiting you might want to get off the beaten trail. There are good reasons why some places become tourist attractions: there are convenient ways of getting there and interesting things to see. For aspects of your trip that are less touristy you might want to try asking some locals about places known mostly by them and ignored by the visitors. Going around the travel industry offers might get you greater satisfactions than if you had just followed the standards.

Big cities might sound like a good place to visit, but the truth is that most of them are very much alike. Of course, there are exceptions, and you will find cities with a very distinct personality, like Paris, Prague or Istanbul. You might also want to travel without using cabs and go for the means of transportation the locals use: buses, trams and bikes. Walking around, stopping at small, hidden shops or wandering on small, neglected streets should prove a unique experience as well, very different from the loud and flashy city tours.

The rural town of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England went for hundreds of years as just that. It was a country town with a market for the local farmers and traders to sell their wares, with shops, businesses, trades and agriculture being the usual income for local people. Situated on the pretty English River Avon and surrounded by villages of thatched cottages, the people who were born in Stratford-upon-Avon generally had a pleasant countryside existence.

Then came the craze for Shakespere.

Gradually over a number of years this little town has transformed itself into a place of culture and is now the second largest tourist destination in England. Scholars of English always knew that William Shakespere was born in Stratford, but it was only in the 20th Century that serious moves were made to re-popularise his plays, so much so that a new theatre was built in his town of birth to immortalise the “Bard” in 1932.

This new theatre on the banks of the Avon became a Mecca for scholars, students and theatre audiences. By employing well known as well as unknown actors, actresses, directors and staff Stratford soon became the best known Shakespearian theatre in the world.

The Royal Shakespere Company was able to expand in later years, and bought new property in Stratford to open small, intimate theatres, where the actors could talk directly to the audience. The very best actors, both in England and abroad, were often trained at the RSC in Stratford, and love to come back for a season from time to time.

The RSC now performs both Shakespere and many other authors all over the world, and is still considered “The Best” by many of even its sternest critics.

So, what happened to the little market town in the centre if England? It’s now a big town with a small town centre and no market. The people of Stratford have largely been pushed out of town by the incredibly high property prices. Stratford has become such a success that more than half of the smaller houses are weekend homes for the rich, and leaves many local villages dormant during the week.

Shakespeare’s Birthplace in the middle of town is a lovely half-timbered old house which is now trampled over by a million tourists every year. The town is within 2 hours of about 20 million day trippers living in England. The houses that belonged to William’s relatives do not escape either. You can tour the whole lot on double-decker buses along what were, recently, country lanes that are now covered with various coloured lines in the middle and on both sides.

The really bizarre reason to travel to Stratford-upon-Avon is to see if you can find a local person. Particularly during the spring, summer and autumn seasons you won’t find many. Japanese, German, American, Korean, Swedish, Dutch, French etcetera Yes. But a real Warwickshire accent? Unlikely.

A Sunshine Wedding with a difference on the island of Malta.

Where else can you get married at a traditional Church, in a simple registry office, at the beach or in full 1500AD costume? The answer is in Malta and its cousin islands of Gozo & Como

Yes, you can really get married in full costume dating back to 1500AD in the beautiful, walled, medieval city of Mdina! Truly a day to remember, you will feel as if you have been transported in a time capsule to another era of bygone yesteryear. It was here, in AD60, that the Apostle St Paul was rumoured to have lived whilst shipwrecked. A silent city by day, Mdina’s narrow, curved streets housing bastions and palace courtyards are transformed into a glittering, exotic nightspot where you can enjoy a delicious al-fresco meal after your wedding lit up by hundreds of lamps and lanterns dotting this mysteriously decadent city.

Less than a 3 hour flight from the UK and with no visa requirement for British Nationals, Malta has fast become the top alternative wedding & honeymoon destination instead of the Caribbean. Not only is it more economical to get married in Malta but you can also invite your close friends and family along to be part of your Special Day without the added embarrassment of them incurring transatlantic costs.

Malta is predominantly Roman Catholic so the Maltese people love to celebrate weddings. Most weddings in Malta are held in their large churches, which can hold up to 500 guests! The Maltese islands, lying between Sicily & North Africa, are surrounded by crystal clear waters and are drenched in year round sunshine and the Maltese scenery with its honey-hued stone structures create the perfect backdrop for your special day!

Malta is a diver’s paradise. What better way to celebrate than to go for a dive in the warm Mediterranean waters with your new spouse and friends and family? Or how about going for a sunset boat ride with some chilled champagne to accompany you?

No matter which country you decide to get married in, there’s always the boring paperwork. Visit www.mymalta.co.uk, the Maltese wedding experts, who will take away all the hassle of the legalities and paperwork and organise pre-wedding appointments and let you get on with choosing the perfect spot for your tan and tasting the wonderful local champagne! You can combine very competitively priced wedding & honeymoon packages in Malta at any of the 4 and 5 star hotels around the islands. The Corinthia San Gorg & Marina Resort for those looking for a beachfront location with its extensive choice of watersports and five swimming pools or the Corinthia Palace Hotel for a romantic stay in palatial surroundings are probably two of the best hotels in Malta.

Whether you are an adventurous traveler who scales mountains and hikes through jungles or you are a lover of creature comforts who lives for five star hotels, travel will teach you some of life’s great lessons. It does not matter if you were born a beach bum or are an art enthusiast travel will enrich your life.

Whether you prefer traveling in groups or going it alone, if you are a planner or spontaneous your life will benefit by traveling away from what you know. You don’t have to go far, you may or may not cross oceans, take a plane, train or car the important thing is that you explore the world outside of your community.

What will you discover?

Look at the familiar through new eyes: Travel to a place you know well with someone who has never been there before. On a trip to Pittsburgh, where I grew up, my niece and her boyfriend showed me a city full of unique and charming old neighborhoods, museums dedicated to things such as ketchup, Andy Warhol and the birth of the labor movement. I also saw that the view of the three rivers from Mount Washington is as beautiful as any large city vista.

We are small: Walk through the redwood forests in California or hike through Rocky Mountain National Park and you will discover just how small we are.

There are more similarities than differences: Stand on the shore in Nova Scotia, Canada and then the coast of Brittany in France you will notice the similarities in the landscape and the people even though these two places are separated by an ocean.

You can be someone else: I have had people think I was Dutch in Lucca, Italy and Quito Ecuador, French in Venice and German in Rome. In fact the only place people absolutely know that I am American is in Canada. It is fun to play along and see where it takes you.

Food can be part of your adventure: You will find that pretty food is not always good and ugly food is not always bad. It is not the wine that is important it is the new and old friends that you share it with that is important.

You can be happier if you strike out on your own: If you are traveling with a group you do not need to do everything your companions do. Some people have an amazing capacity for art museums, others prefer churches and still others can walk for miles without a break. After spending a week in France looking at buildings designed by the architect Corbusier, I finally rented a car and went to San Tropez. Everyone was happier after that.

Rain is beautiful too: The sun does not have to shine to make a place beautiful; standing in the rain in a rain forest is as beautiful as sitting in the sun in Portofino.

Beauty is all around you, just look and see: Treat yourself to the colors in the landscape in New Mexico and the lack of contrast between the water, ice and landscape on a cloudy day in Newfoundland.

New York City is not the US, Paris is not France: You learn not to judge a country by one city - New York City is not representative of the United States and Paris is not representative of France.

Old is a state of mind: In some countries old is measured in thousands of years in other countries it is measured in hundreds of years. In people, old is a state of mind, if you are young look around you at older travelers who are walking the same paths as you only with canes and walking sticks often with a smile on their face.

When disaster strikes: Traveling makes you feel empathy when disaster strikes. How many people cried after Hurricane Katrina remembering the people they had met in New Orleans or Biloxi? The tourist trade helped revive the economy of Southeast Asia after the tsunami hit in 2004.

Imagine: Take a break and imagine what daily life is like in the place you are visiting, and then think of what it was like a hundred years ago or a thousand years ago.

If someone asks you to sing then sing!: Step outside your comfort zone, try to speak the language, if people are singing join in.

Smiles translate: If in doubt smile, they mean the same thing in every language. Chances are you will be rewarded with a smile in return.

No amount of reading books, watching TV or listening to music can replace the experience of getting up off your couch and going to see it all for yourself. You will never look at the world in the same way again.
