We’re all tired of reading about the recession, especially if you’re one of the jobless. You can stop reading the papers, but you can’t get away from the reality that Europe is in a recession and it’s not going away anytime soon.
What can we do?What can be done? The conventional ways of hunting for a job are not so effective when you have 90 other job seekers applying for the same job. Picking up the local newspaper, browsing the unemployment bureau, etc – you’re just part of the large herd looking for work in this conventional way.
You should look for work in ways your rivals are fewer in numbers. Nowadays many companies advertise job vacancies on their company website, so go to your search engine and enter keywords to identify local firms. Use a variety of keywords between location only e.g. jobs Tamworth, and location and profession e.g. sales jobs in Tamworth.
Another alternative is to go it alone – become self-employed. What we’ve found out over the last 12 months is that big companies can go bankrupt very quickly. Being self-employed puts destiny in your own hands, something no employee of a firm can ever say they have. An important point is that you choose the kind of work you love since you must motivate yourself everyday.
